We truly believe dogs are one of the greatest joys to ever walk this earth, and feel incredibly lucky to spend our days surrounded by their unique personalities, quirky habits, and the pure happiness they bring wherever they go.
We know how tough it can be to be away from your precious pooch, which is why we offer a genuine home-away-from-home experience. Every dog in our care is treated exactly like our own dog, Basil—and trust us, he lives like an absolute king (as he should!). 👑🐶

we're based in Oxshott and proudly cover areas from Kingston to Leatherhead. We can’t wait to welcome you and your dog into the Basil & Company family!
Hi, I’m Melissa, the proud owner of Basil & Company. This business was inspired by my beautiful boy, Basil—my little business partner and soon-to-be best friend for your pup. He’s a calm, happy companion, and I hope he brings an extra bit of comfort and joy to your dog’s day when they’re with us.
Dogs have been a part of my life since I was four, and I truly can’t imagine life without them. They bring a sense of peace and happiness unlike anything else, and it’s this love for dogs that inspires everything I do at Basil & Company.
Below is an outline of the services I offer. I understand that every client’s needs are unique, so if the service you’re looking for isn’t listed, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m always happy to discuss your requirements and will do my best to accommodate them.
1.5-3 hours including pick up and drop off. You will be given a time slot for pick up in either the morning or afternoon. If you get a morning slot your pooch will be home around lunch time and afternoon slots are back late afternoon. You can make requests for preferred walk slot but please note I can’t always accommodate this.
Same as above service.

For group walks, we always explore woodland areas, which provide plenty of mental stimulation and enrichment for your pup. Dogs absolutely thrive in this environment and love the variety it offers. For solo walks, locations may vary depending on your home location and your dog’s individual needs.
Absolutely. I’d love to meet you in person first so we can get to know one another, and so I can learn more about your pup’s individual needs and personality.
Yes! I’m a one-person team, so on rare occasions I may be away. If this happens, I’ll always let you know well in advance. On days when I am available, and as long as it’s safe to drive, your pup will be picked up and ready for their day out.
Your dog will be transported safely and securely in a purpose-built dog van with built-in cages. The van is fully equipped with proper ventilation and air conditioning, ensuring your pooch enjoys a comfortable and stress-free journey.
Trust me—I’ve been there. Coming home after a long day to a very muddy dog can feel like the bane of your life. That’s why I will always rinse off and towel-dry your dog. My aim is to take the stress of dog care off your already long daily to-do list and make life a little easier for you.
No, you don’t need to be home. I can safely store a spare house key to allow for convenient pick-up and drop-off without disrupting your day. I’ll make sure I have all your instructions in advance, so your pooch is left exactly as you’d like—whether that’s settled in a crate, with fresh water, or with certain doors closed.
Unfortunately, I’m unable to offer my services to reactive dogs. As I care for multiple dogs at one time, I can’t risk other dogs being affected by challenging behaviours. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
All dogs in my care are fitted with a collar GPS tracker linked directly to my phone, allowing me to monitor their location in real time whenever needed.
Yes, I am fully insured, DBS-checked, and trained in canine first aid.
No, there’s no need for monthly sign-ups or long-term commitments. You can simply let me know your requirements on a week-by-week basis, and I’ll send an invoice at the end of the month.
There are two convenient ways to pay. You can choose to pay monthly via bank transfer after receiving an invoice with the total amount due, or you can pay per walk by leaving cash for me to collect at the time of your dog’s pick-up.
